What do most of you all think is the best fondant to make and use. I don't really like the marshmellow fondant so what would be a good one to use. Recipe and directions if have any Thanks a million.

I'm not really good at making my own fondant. So, I buy it. I like Pettinice and Satin Ice. It's worth the money to save my time!

can you combine and mix your homemade fondant in your mixer or do you have to mix it with your hands.

I'm another one that buys fondant. Made MMF once - what a mess, but it did taste nice. Made mine by hand. Good question about using a mixer!!
I like Pettinice and the White Chocolate Rolled Fondant from Caljava.com. Both are great for covering cakes but a bit soft for molding, unless you add gumpaste.

JoAnnB-I've been wanting to try out that recipe now. Is it pretty easy to work with? I read the reviews and just wasn't sure if it was worth it to try because of some of the things people said about it. But if you like it, maybe I should try it!

I tried making it by hand once.... and "boy what a mess" sums it up nicely!

I make mine in the KA mixer every time... I love it! I must add that I've never bought any (except for that awful tasting stuff that starts with a W that I will not mention) SO I don't know if that's easier to work with, but I don't have any problems with the MMF and I like how it makes my cookies taste in the end!

*note - I melt the mm in the microwave with the other ingredients, then transfer to the KA with the paddle and add about 3 cups of c. sugar - after that I switch to the dough hook to finish up... grease EVERYTHING very well with Crisco*

Toba Garrett's recipe from this site! I find it easy to make -- I do it by hand. I love the taste and the texture.
