Hello! Has anyone ever gone to www.pinkcakebox.com what a wonderful site! Anyway the cakes that are covered in fondant have such a nice sheen to them. What can I don to get mine to shine? Do you mix luster dust into the fondant? Do you shine it with crisco? I'm stumped please help.

I didn't see what cakes you were looking at, but, You can make it glow with superpearl dust brushed on the fondant exterior
. It would not work to mix it in with the fondant.

Luster dust would make it shine. Also, Satin Ice fondant has a shine.

If I want my fondant really shiny, I brush it with vodka. Shiny, shiny, shiny!!!!

I made some black and white marbled fondant that I wanted to shine like marble and ShirleyW told me to put a light coating of Crisco on it and gently rub with papertowel. Did the trick.

Once you've covered a cake in fondant, take a ball of fondant about half the size of your fist and 'polish' the cake fondant with it - it gives it great smoothness and shine. Alternatively for a high gloss shine paint it with confectioner's glaze.

I looked at the site you mentioned, and the cakes. Didn't find the particularly "special" shiny, but they are interesting. One of the wedding cakes is the most god aweful shade of Poop green I have ever seen!! Who in their right mind would order that??? LOL

Anyway, shining fondant with more fondant?? I will have to try that trick!! I just use the palm of my hand, didn't know there was any other way.....silly me! I learn something new everyday!!!

I like luster dust too for that shiny look, it's my new favorite toy!!
