Haha, well we are supposed to get a bad weather front from Colorado so I will let you know what it amounts to, it keeps changing. But you know as a Canuck, it is just so nice when some place outside of Canada gets the blame for these snowfronts. If you watch the American weather stations, all snowstorms are blamed on something coming in from Canada. Sort of nice to hear that snowstorms can originate in the U.S. too, haha! Did you get some freezing rain with it too?

Down here in the lower peninsula I am quite happily enjoying our unseasonably mild January. I only hope February brings more of the same! The kids miss the snow--skiing in particular, but I sure don't miss the slushy boots!

Still snowing....

SquirrellyCakes your funny my uncle always calls to tease me when we get a lot of snow and says well move a lttle closer to Canada...lol... but i really can't. We can see Sault Canada right from our house we just got to watch the bon sault fireworks friday from the front yard. No frezzing rain we had that about a week or so ago.

I must say if we ever moved to a warm state i would miss the snow, if you can believe that!..lol

Snow?? What's snow?? Here in MD, I don't think we've had winter yet. Someone has screwed up the seasons b/c my tulips are already coming up!!

We have also had the unusually mild January here, I think it is going to mess up Winterlude, the winter festival here, this year. The Rideau Canal has hardly been able to open for skating, just a day or two here and there.
Gee, if the Soo didn't get much snow, that is unusual! What a nice place to live!
Tulips up already, geesh, that is something! They don't normally come up here until May.
Haha, well there are many here that would be happy if the snow came and only stayed 3 or 4 hours, believe me.
It didn't amount to much snow accumulation because the temperature went up above freezing and much of it melted but we did get freezing rain, especially this morning, so the sand and salt trucks were really busy. I guess it isn't done yet and when it freezes over tonight, it will likely be quite hazardous.

We've had plenty of snow but it keeps melting which messes up ice fishing for the guys. It's been in the 20's and 30's just about every day and normally we see a - in front of the 20 or 30 this time of year (we're about 5 miles from Canada).
My husband keeps talking about how warm it is and I keep telling him that it's still too cold for me.

Yes, it really has messed up ice fishing, making it really hazardous, snowmobiling too! Which part of Canada are you close to?

I'm in North Dakota, about 20 miles or so east of the Peace Gardens. My husband hasn't gone snowmobiling yet this year and normally he's out every chance he gets.

Oh gosh, you are in real winter territory, close to Manitoba and if you didn't get much snow, it is a weird winter. Lovely area you live in though!

We've had plenty of snow it just keeps melting, I don't think that we've seen any days this month with a negative temp and I know we haven't seen anything like -40F. That would be what would be expected today and it's 33 out instead.
It is pretty around here, I always thought North Dakota was flat until I met my husband.

Haha kiddo, if you can withstand -40, I think you are honorary Canadian! I lived in Northern Ontario with those kinds of temperatures, so I can relate.
When we lived in Sault Ste. Marie there would be radio warnings that exposed flesh would freeze in 15 seconds, so I remember the cold well, haha! Just had to find places you could reach in 15 seconds!
I think I would love your area!

I don't go outside in the winter if I can help it, I've never gotten used to the cold. I'm an Army brat who knew nothing about plugging cars in and ice races until I was 12 and my parents moved us to Minnesota.

Haha, we always lived in places where when you purchased a car, it came with a block heater. So we purchased this car that had come from Southern Ontario, we were living up north at the time. One night the forecast was for -40 so hubby goes out to plug the car in, he was out there for half an hour with a flashlight, couldn't find the plug. Goes to the car dealership, haha, no block heater, had to buy one and have it installed. Pretty darn funny because now, he always looks for that little plug!

When we moved to Minnesota we had been in Kentucky for 4 years and I had no idea that people would do something as strange as plug their car in. icon_eek.gif That's as bad as driving cars on the ice for races, I still won't go on the ice if I can help it no matter how cold it's been.

I felt so sorry for my little guy. We've had one big snow fall this season and that's it. My little guy pulled out his snowman kit (wooden carrot nose, wooden button eyes, etc.) and said, "Let's pretend it's snowing." We sang the Frosty the snowman song at the top of our lungs and ran around like it was snowing. *laff* We also made rug burn angels. On a fun note we're heading up to Wisconsin for the National Ice Sculpture Competition. If we don't find snow at least we'll see some cool sculptures!
