How does everyone pronounce "Fondant"? I've heard so many different way i'm getting a little confused. LOL
Lol That's what got me confused, hearing like 10 different ways to say it on Food Network.
The way i say it is "Fawn-d-ant(like a insect ant). I know it's a bit wrong ,but i'll blame my accent LOL.
Well, if you want to sound French (it is originally a French word), prounounce it as if you had a bad sinus infection: FAW-DAUNT (but don't pronounce the NT at the end). Emphasize the 2nd syllable.
If you want to sound normal, FAWN-DUNT, emphasize the first syllable.
Even though I teach French, I hate when people try to say it the French way, because it sounds like they are trying to be snooty. I don't even say it the French way, unless I am speaking French. But don't let that stop you if you feel so inclined!!

Heehee, now Ellepal, for the Canucks on the site that live in areas where both French and English is spoken, it is not being snooty for use to use the French pronounciation when speaking English, it is just the Canuck way, haha!
Hugs Squirrelly giving you a rough time kiddo!
LOL....well, you guys are the exception!! The problem is that people think they sound French, but they actually butcher the pronunciation. At least you guys know how to say it correctly!!
Heehee, sorry kiddo, just couldn't resist, it drives me nuts too. When we say it in English, we pronounce it "fawndant" with the empahasis on "fawn".
Hugs Squirrelly
