fix an oven?

Another thread got me thinking- what if your oven failed you on the day you needed to bake a cake for a wedding that Saturday that was going to have 600 guests?! icon_eek.gif

I'd be looking for an alternate place to bake or go buy a new stove.

that is one of the reasons I don't wait until the last minute. Although, I do have two ovens.

That's what friends and family are for! I'd either drive the hour down and hour back to my mom's to use her kitchen - or - I'd call my friends to see if I can use their kitchen. Of course, whomever helped me out would get a few "freebie" goodies from me.

I would probably have to go up to my MIL's who lives right beside me....depending on what was wrong...or else I would go buy a new one too!

that happened to me while I was baking a b-day cake for a co-worker....at 8pm at night. I called in to work the next morning, said I was going to be late and baked the cake at my church. Most churchs have kitchens so I just asked if I could use the oven.

That happened to me baking cupcakes for my daughter's class...I took the half baked cupcakes to my neighbor's house to finish =). And then called maintenance.

My concern would probably be licensing issues (like going over to someone's house and they're not licensed), but I guess that's fixed with buying a new oven! icon_lol.gif

I would go to a friends or our firehouse and use the stove there! I wouldn't buy a new right away only bc simple task of putting a new stove in takes a few days. We just got a new one in DEC and it took hubby three days to change it over!

I would call maintence and offer a huge incentive to get their hinnies over to my house in the next hour!! Failing that i would call on friends, family or the communtiy centre
