I have had so many problems w/ cookies spinning around on the lolipop and cookie sticks that I've resorted to flat sticks. However, they only come in 1 length, I can't make a tall bouquet w/ them. I want to use the round ones so I can get different heights, but they always spin. I use the no fail sugar cookie recipe and insert the sticks before baking. Even let them cool completey before moving. Why am I having this problem? I've seen where some people use RI to dip sticks in first, but I don't want to make this since I don't decorate them w/ it. Please tell me what to do.
Thanks so much.
I've never had a problem with my cookies spinning. I wonder if using corn syrup on the stick would work? That way you wouldn't have to mix up the icing if you aren't going to use it to decorate.
So what do you use to decorate?
corn syrup? Does it harden as it bakes?
For the decorating, I use a pourable glaze. It's 1 cup pwd sugar, 2 Tbs. milk and enough clear corn syrup to get it to the right consistancy. I pipe the border then flood in the rest. It dries really shiney and pretty, cookies are stackable and dries well enough to put cookies in treat bags. I'll try dipping the sticks, thanks.
Don't know if you would like to try this or not but it's a suggestion

I insert the sticks after baking and haven't had too many problems with the cookies spinning around on them. I remember reading somewhere that as the cookie cools around the stick, it becomes more compact; therefore gripping the stick better... (I hope that made sense
LOL)
In the rare event that I do have a loose stick, I usually use RI to "glue" it back in place ![]()
If you put the stick in as soon as it comes out of the oven, the cookie should contract when it cools and hold on to the stick. If not take the stick back out and squirt a little dot of royal icing in the hole and re-insert the stick.
Melanie - I just love the little kitten in your signature! The cute little face and the saying gets me everytime I see it.
No, I'm thinking that you can use it as a glue after you bake the cookie, if it's still spinning on the stick.
