Hello everyone!

I am new here- but I have sure learned a lot. I've been doing cookies for a long time and am now going to try fondant on my cakes. Is there a certain type/receipe that anyone could recommend for someone just starting out. I love the rolled buttercream for my cookies, and have tried the marshmellow fondant-- hated that.

Thanks

Welcome to cake central. MMF is much like all fondant. You will have to explain what it was you hated.

There are several other recipes, some can be found at baking911.com
I use the recipe from the Cake Bible, and the one on foodnetwork by Jacques Torres.

I like the recipe from the wilton site. You might want to try that. Its not as chewy as the MMF.

I know you said that you dont like mmf, but have you tried the Chocolate MMF? I made that one for the first time and everyone loved it. They said it tasted like fudge! Search for "chocolate marshmallow fondant" here on CC for the recipe if you are interested.

Thanks for your warm welcomes! When I made the MMF, it was very sticky at first-- then it didn't seem so bad when I finally got it in a ball. But--- when I rolled it out-- it stuck like crazy to the parchment paper. Anyway- maybe I'll give it another try.
