I want to learn to use an airbrush, there are so many affects possible with one you just can't do without it. Hubby has one for his models (yes, darn it, i am jealous LOL) and it can do amazing things! So... for all you who have worked with airbrushes... which brand/model would you get? If i am going to get one i will get a good one. Now I am not talking about investing a thousand bucks here, but am definitely willing to spend more than $30 at Wal-Mart, if you know what i mean. We have an air compressor so i Just want to know what system you would use, top feeder or jar below and why? What kind of tips should i be looking at and what is the best medium to run thru them? Americolor makes airbrush colors.. are they good? Thanks for letting me pick your brains... you all are the best resource there is! Kitty

I saw a demo by Roland Winbeckler, the airbrush master. He used both and I think I would prefer the model with the jars below. It allows you to move your hand, and tip the brush without the risk of spilling the paint.

Americolor makes a terrific product.

Since you already have a generator, you will save a lot of money.

i have the top feeder from kopykake. It's the only one I've ever had so I can't tell you which one is better. I do like mine. I don't spill it on cakes so I really don't need the bottom feeder. Try your husbands and see if you his brush. I'm assuming it's a bottle feeder since it is a model car airbrush. Practice on newspaper. Any compressor is good as long as it goes from 5-20psi. I actually have a toy compressor for mine. It was my son's and then I took it. Yes, I stole it.
