Hope all of my fellow Canadians exercise their right and privilege today and get out and vote. Remember, we have no right complaining about our governing party if we do not exercise this privilege!

Exactly my view as well Squirrelly! I will be going as soon as I drop the girls off at Nursey School! I think it's going to be an interesting evening as the results come in, non?

I wish voting was mandatory like it is in some countries. Gee, some countries have never had that privilege and then there are countries that have it and people don't take advantage of it. Pet peeve of mine.
Haha, yes, I think it is going to be an interesting one, we will likely know the results within an hour of the polls being closed as we usually do.
Happy voting day!

Haha, well, my area was one of the last ones to come in with a count, hard to imagine why. The CBC called for a predicted minority Conservative goverment within 10 minutes of the last polling stations closing. So that means a new Prime Minister, a new minority government, possibilities are endless for parties joining together and creating coalitions. There was more than a 61% turnout which is sort of sad in my view but better by a percentage point than the last one which was also a minority but Liberal.
Anyway, should make for interesting times. It was obviously a kick in the pants to the Liberal government for some mishandling of taxpayer dollars and not being accountable or responsible with them. But still not enough confidence to give the other party a clear win.

I voted too, was in bed when I heard a minority conservative.....too bad millions of taxpayer dollars were spent to elect in another minority gov.

I agree with you Squirrelly. The Gov. is usually formed before our polls here on the west are even closed. They are just not allowed to say anything til ours are "officially" closed. The sad thing is I didn't like any of the leaders so I voted for the 1 I disliked the least. Warning to Harper though. He sees now what can happen if he mismanages our taxes. Boot! Your out

There's definately SOMETHING strange with that man's eyes.... :shudder: he just creeps me out to look at him (yes, I realize it's irrelevant to his politics, but he does!)

...PLUS, he's against the Same-Sex Marriages and if he is allowed to ban them, I'll lose a great market here in Toronto for the wedding cakes/cookies I do for them! icon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gif

That law shouldn't be touched anyway!

I hope they leave the "Same Sex Marriage" laws alone too, I don't think it would be right to change it back and a lot of people would be hurt by it.
My fear is if some of the folks that had been in the old Reform party are appointed to any position of power. There are a few folks that could well prove to be an embarassment if allowed to speak. let alone be put into positions of power.
I agree, I think that they will be on their toes if they want to hold power for any length of time. Sometimes we get a better government when there is a minority situation.
Should make for interesting times, I guess!

Your politics sounds similar to ours... Last couple of times I voted for what I thought was the lesser of two evils.....but that happens in a democracy.

Heehee Ken, and sometimes it is just the other of the two evils, haha! The advantage we have is that with a minority government, as is the case this time, second time in a row, the government can get booted out if the others gang together and declare a vote of non-confidence. Which means instead of the regular 4 year term which they can in effect stretch out to almost five years, they can be booted out at any time. Which is why we found ourselves back at the polls only two years after this last minority government was elected. Of course that means the possibility of another 265 million dollars being spent on yet another election, something that won't go over too well with the general Canadian public.
In theory it should make for a spirit of cooperation amongst the various political parties who had members elected.
Haha, I guess we will see...
