I love my left handed tips!!!! They are wonderful!!! You need to get them if you didn't!!!

Glad to meet another lefty!! After working in a right handed world, we learn to adjust so something like these tips made just for US is great!!!

I am also left handed but haven't made a ton of the flowers. I did buy some of the leftie tips and they worked out great, however I probably would have just trained myself to use the rightie tips and the proper twist direction anyway!

They are definitely different!

I'm a lefty too and love those left-handed petal tips. Using the ones for right-handed people makes your arm twist in all kinds of weird ways. Isn't it nice that someone thought to make them for us lefties!

I could not make a flower to save my life with the rightie tips. I was so happy to find the left handed ones - they made a big difference for me.

I bought these and don't use them. Mainly because when I took the wilton courses I was lucky enough to have a good instructer and she taught me the way to may flowers etc with the regular tips and with the correct turns etc.

I have three out of five children who are left handed, both father and mother (me) are right handed. When my daughter was small my right handed mother taught her to crochet and knit by sitting facing her and doing eveything she did but with her left hand, mirror image. I tried that with cake students and it worked quite well. I wasn't aware they were making left handed cake tips, but if it makes it easier or more fum for the decorator I am all for it.

thanks for the replies. i think i'll spend the 2.99. i thought it was just me not being able to make roses. So I always made them out of fondant.

Yes!!!!!! I whole heartedly agree, "Hooray for the lefties!" I am left handed to! I do have these tips but have not tried them yet. I have always just used the standard ones with out any problems. Is anyone else out there tired of people acting like your being left handed is some kind of handicap?? I get so angry when cashiers make some stupid comment when they see me writing a check or signing a pay slip! Some people are so dense! Anna

In course 1, my WI told me that I was doing my shell border "backwards" - because I went around the cake the opposite direction from all the right-handed people in the class. She wasn't being mean or telling me I was doing it incorrectly - just making an observation, I guess. Sometimes those kinds of comments really irritate me, though.

Right, because it may have been "backwards" to her but not to you! Glad you didn't take it personally though. I guess I just need to get thicker skin or something! It's just that I can out draw most of those cashiers that think I must have had a rough life living with my "condition"! I am a little ticked because I just had this happen again a few days ago, so it's still pretty fresh! Anna

Well, I don't feel quite so bad about not being able to make roses. I'll have to try the leftie tips. Although the Wilton books do offer instructions for lefties on holding the bag at 3:00 vs 9:00 and such. It still was confusing with a right handed instructor.

Yeah, Cindy, it's rough trying to figure out how to mirror someone! My instructor ended up copying one of those rose templates from the back of the book and then traced the image on the back of the page so that the image was reversed. That way I didn't have to stretch my brain too much to imagine how to hold and turn everything. So if you haven't tried that yet, you might want to give it a shot. (have to give that instructor some credit for the helpful rose diagram, despite the "backwards" border comment!)

I had the hardest time making my flower petals right handed. My instructor gave me a few of the left handed tips and I just love them.

As an instructor, being left handed works out well for me as I can stand up in front of the class and the mirror image is shown to the. I rarely use my lefty tips because I am teaching, BUT when I have a left handed student- I always tell them about the tips! And I spend more time with them making sure they have the technique down pat. I have taught myself to decorate and do certain techniques with my right hand for easier teaching too. (rosebud, violet).

Remember lefties- we use the right side of our brain- and we adapt to a right handed world- we are smarter in many ways!!

I have all of the tips. My instructor actually said I might want to get one of them in Course 2 for some of the flowers. I did and it really helped. It also helped that my instructor is ambidextrous and would teach the others the right handed way and then show me the lefty way. icon_biggrin.gif
I think I got very lucky getting her as an instructor.

Ok, I'm not left handed, but I wanted to let you all know that I am right handed and cannot make roses correctly with any kind of tips! So none of us is any better off. icon_smile.gif

I am left handed and for some reason the lefty tips don't do it for me. I guess I learnt with the right hand rose tip and it kind of embedded in my brain.
I have also been told that I do my borders backwards and wanted the shove the icing bag down her throat.

What number is the left handed rose tip? I have one that I THINK is the left handed one.

If being left-handed means that we are "handicapped" then we should be able to park closer to the door at Wal-Mart, right?

I have heard people tell others that park in those parking places, with no apparent disability, "You can't use stupidity as a handicap"...
