An awesome cake. I retired from the Fire Department, not a FF, but a civilian. Wish we had someone like you to do cakes for us, we got real tired of the traditional sheet cake with the logo in the middle. No imagination on the part of the bakery we ordered from (unless you count the plastic firetrucks on top).

As far as all the white in the cake, maybe if you made it a very pale yellow or cream color, the contrast wouldn't be as great. I'm not sure that I would add anything else, might make it too busy and detract from the flames, they make quite a statement on their own.

I really like this cake. Since the crumbs were mentioned ( I didn't notice them). Perhaps some of the flames could have flipped up onto the top of the cake to cover the crumbs. I think you did a great job. Good use of color.
