Good morning all. I am making a cake for my MIL and would like to cover it with MMF. The only thing is, everytime i try to use it, it sticks to the surface. I've tried everything that I can think of. I've used bot powdered sugar and cornstarch to cover the rolling surface, my counter top, it still sticks. I've tried rollilng it on parchment paper, a rolling mat, wax paper...it still sticks. I even tried to roll it softly and not press hard enough for it to stick...but it still sticks. I am constantly flipping and turning it to prevent it from sticking...but no such luck. Any suggestions from anyone on how to get this stuff to NOT stick...before I give up on MMF for good??? Thanks ![]()
KCsmom98, I had that problem too and one thing it was to humid in my house but to fix it was i used lots and i mean lots of cornstarch. I would roll a little then lift it and put more underneath it and roll a little more and add more cornstarch. After I was done I had at least a cup of it when I cleaned up but it didn't stick anymore. The only problem was to wipe it off i used a pastry brush to brush off the top. The kids think its funny cause I look like I had a fight with it and it won and the kitchen looks like I had wind storm with it but it didn't stick. I hope this helps.

I have used cornstarch...but my worry would be, how much is too much cornstarch...will it chance the taste of the MMF? But I suppose since it's for the MIL it dosen't matter I can just experiment on her
...i do let it rest before i try to roll it out. I have followed the instructions that are on this website... I will try using more cornstarch and see if that helps. Thanks for the help.
Crisco is what worked for me, too. I also read on here once to roll the fondant between two sheets of vinyl. I purchased some at my local Wal-mart and just cut it to size. Anyway, make sure that there is some crisco on both pieces of my vinyl and roll away. I haven't had any sticking problems since.
I use crisco and that works for me ... I had to put more the second time arround because the first time it stuck .... I'm going to try the vinil with crisco next time .. I think it would be easier to clean up
