Hi everyone,
I joined the forum a few days ago and have found it very helpful. I use to bake and decorate all the time years ago, but life did some changing and I got away from it. Well a week before Easter my boyfriend and I were going through some old boxes of mine and we came across my cake photo album. He asked if I had done all those cakes. I had completely forgotten about them. Well, he asked why I didn't do that now. I told him I didn't know but I did miss it. Well Easter morning I had a "basket" (Wilton caddy) full of decorating supplies. He had gone to Michael's and asked for some help to get me started again. So here I am. Wow didn't realize exactly how much I had missed it. Well, from what I have read in the posts I have the feeling that if I need to refresh my brain on things or help with new this is definitely the place to go. You all see really great and helpful.

I see you're in San Diego.....did you go to the Confections on Parade at LaJolla Village Square? The competition was just held on March 12&13th. I just got back from there last week. My sister lives in Scripps Ranch so I go down every year for two weeks and enter the show.

Welcome! I must say your boyfriend is quite the sweetheart....I can see you will have the backing from him!!!! You should post some of the pics you guys found....have a scanner???? If so you really should....you will get back into it fast....just watch!
I have been to other sites...and for some reason this one keeps me coming back...probably the people...though I see lots of these people at other sites too...I think its the color...really I dont know, but its a great place...All other sites are great too, dont get me wrong...I find its a habit to come here.
Well well.. Is your boyfriends name Noah Calhoun? LOL just kidding..

Yes he is a sweetheart and very supportive. Once I can get the cake pics on my computer I'll post a few. Just one quick question, Is fondant easy to use? Never have used it but see alot of cakes done with it.
Welcome and yep...fondant is very easy to use..don't be intimidated by that stuff! If you want to try you hand at it and save some money, try making the Marshmallow Fondant (MMF)..you will find the recipe on this website! BTW..the MMF tastes really good!

What a sweetheart your boyfriend is, wanting to help you get back into something you liked doing. My husband is supportive of me too, he's always volunteering to bring in cake to work for going away parties and the like. And he does not mind that I am on this site so much and he also knows that being a moderator for this site is good for me emotionally and also will be good in the job market.
Enjoy your time here, you will find that everyone is very supportive here and always willing to offer advice. 
Welcome! And, isn't cake decorating just like riding a bike? Once you've figured it out everything comes back when you need it! Wow, what a boyfriend you've got there and it sounds like he is a keeper!

Can I borrow your boyfriend everytime I do a cake? My hubby is not supportive of me at all. He thinks I spend too much time baking & decorating. Jscakes says it's only because he worries about me being on my feet so long. I'm so glad your boyfriend backs you up!! Tell him we already love him just by the way you described him!!!!

You were all right about this site being addictive. My boyfriend teases me now. He says everytime I'm online I'm on this site. Told him it was all his fault, he just laughs. Well I'm going to try fondant on a practice cake. Wish me luck first time using it. Again, thanks for such a warm welcome.
