BUMP!! I would love to know where that wonderful tool comes from. Anything that helps me smooth the edges of my cake is a blessing, lol.

interesting tool, but it says only good on marzipan or sugarpaste (fondant). Would love to find one for buttercream!

I don't have one, but if is only for fondant is useless, for fondant all you need is your hands to smooth the border

I went to an ICES day of sharing last month and one of the demonstrators uses the plastic "credit card" cards that credit card companys send you trying to get you to open an account with them. Those cards are thin and easy to handle and make a great smoother for the sides and the top. I have tried them and they work great...

I would think you could use it with Viva. Just put the Viva under it like you would a fondant smoother and do it that way. Just a thought.

I saw these on Global Sugar Art's web site. I like the idea of the credit card though.

yes, i have the one with the slight curve to make the rounded edge. I LOVE IT! the straight edge was out of stock, but i will get all the others. i found mine at global sugar art. do a search for edgers and you'll see them all. i highly recommend them. i use mine with a viva towel for my buttercream and it comes out looking like fondant every time. that, along with melvira's miracle foam roller idea!

Very interesting. After looking over the page in the online store, I saw a few for other functions too.

Global sugar art.com has them. I think they're called edgers or something like that. Think Stephen Bennison (sp?).

I have all these contoured and straight edgers for fondant and they are absolutely fabulous to work with. While it is possible to smooth fondant with a smoother and, or, your hands, these edgers are amazing when forming the edges on your cake. No more uneven areas! These are very popular in the UK.

They are made by Valerie White. She also has a book that shows you how to use these on your cakes. It's called 'The Cover Story'. It's all available for sale in the U.S. at www.globalsugarart.com.

They are out of the sharp edger and won't be ordering any more for awhile, so call them up and tell them you want one of these so they can order some more! The sharp edgers make your fondant cake look like buttercream edges, with those perfectly angled corners all around the top.

These are some of my all time favorite cake decorating tools.

Cool idea, the credit card that is! I'll have to try that! I also just recently tried Melvira's method of smooting and loved it!!

I went to Walmart last week and got a 3 pack of plastic putty knives, approx 2", 3" and 5". They have a really sharp edge and worked GREAT on BC. Best part...they were $1.97!
