Hello!

Has anyone ever ordered and/or used those 3-D NASCAR car kits that are available online? Are they worth the money and time? I have been asked to do a NASCAR cake and I thought I would investigate this option.

Thanks!

I've used one and it was great. Well worth the money. The edible images are perfect and the pan is of the same quality as the wilton ones so it can be used over and over again. The cake mix it came with wasn't enough to fill the pan and tasted like sour cream pound cake so you might want to replace it with your own recipe. The frosting was black with no aftertaste...tasted like vanilla (good).

I've used it also for the John Force car. Huge hit with my son and his buddies! I agree the cake itself wasn't the best. Next time I will make my own. I think it was well worth it. Now I have a 3d car pan I can use my own way or order a refill decorating kit!

I, too, have made one of these cakes. I made a Dale Earnhardt car...mostly black icing which scared me, but it actually tasted really good. The pan is very good quality and I put my own cake mix in it (didn't trust the prepackaged one). Good investment.

I also bought the kit and made whoever drives a red car. Made it for a groom's cake. First I used the mix that came with the kit and found that I had to prop one end of the car up a little to get it level in my oven because the first time when I unmolded, it just didn't look right and broke. Second time I used a boxed cake mix and it worked GREAT!
