Decorating By JavaJunkieChrissy Updated 3 Mar 2007 , 5:29am by JavaJunkieChrissy
Hello!!
Thanks so much for helping me. I have been wanting to ask this question about decorating my cake. I'm in the midst of doing this cake right now and I could have thunked myself on the head for forgetting to ask this in advance.
Here goes.....when I stack a cake I put dowels in...then a cake seperator board (made out of cardboard) but here's my question. When you take the cake apart to cut it the icing that should be on the bottom layer of the cake sticks to the seperator board.......HOW CAN I STOP THAT???
Thanks so much. I'm sorry that I seem anxious...it's just that I don't want to have this happen again and I'm sure that there is something that I can do to stop it.
I use IMBC as my icing. The cake that I'm doing is a butter cake with strawberry mousse.....didn't know if this needs to be know in order to help me.
Thanks agian,
Chrissy
I was told to use either coconut or powered sugar between the layers in my cake classes. A light dusting really seems to help the layer from sticking. Hope this helps!
I think the wax paper would probably work. I'm not sure about the powdered sugar.....won't that just get absorbed by the icing?
Anyone else have any quick hints????
Bootin' myself back up to the top....it's almost midnight ![]()
here's a post I found here on CC, HTH

read down a couple it might help.
O.K. I'll try the wax paper. I personally just hate the thought that the icing will stick all over that cake board. ICK!!
I'll let you all know how this turns out for me. Thanks again for such quick help.
Blessings to all,
Chrissy
