Sorry guys, one more question! icon_redface.gif

If I buy larger frosting sheets, can I print a couple of different pictures on them and just 'cut' them out? icon_confused.gif

Thanks,
Val.

those large edible sheets are for those very large printers that are used by architecs ( spelling ugh)

they cost several hundred dollars. Not worth our money. I have taken a 8x10 sheet and gotten 4 or 3 pics on them, but hard to figure out what the client wants It will be very hard to put the cut sheet back into the printer.

also..unless it's an image that you plan to post as a special..let's say now for St. Patrick's Day...some cute Leprechauns..it wouldn't be cost effective.

but you can do generic images like...princesses...or text....HAPPY BIRTHDAY...or anything that is 'common' but only a few at a time. it's not making you money if it's sitting in storage. thumbs_up.gif

Okay, so if I buy the 7.5"x10", they would be fine for a 9"x13" sheet cake, but could I also print 2 pics on them and then 'cut' them, or do they have to be used as full sheets only?

Also, do you know if the Canon ip1600 would be okay to use?

Thanks. thumbs_up.gif

you can print 2 pics on them depending on you photo print program or if you know how to do it in you wordprocessing programs.

as far as the printer itself...I have no idea..as I use the 6000

I cut out separate pictures all the time. No problem.

I can't find any list anywhere that includes the ip1600.

So would it be better for me to invest in the ip1700?

I have wanted to start doing edible images for quite some time now, but I thought that it would cost hundreds of dollars to start up. I just really don't know much about doing them.

Do I need specific software, or can I just use whatever program I already have to print pictures? icon_confused.gif

val_nutrimetics you can go to Kopy Kake web site and see which printers they support. I did not see the 1700 listed.

There's an i450 on eBay (but it's closing down SOON!) that is compatible.

Couple of ip4000s, but they have lots of bids.

Edited to add:

I did find one new ip1500. They typed it with a space in the model name so it evaded my original search:

This is awesome!! My local cake store charges $10 per sheet and I have bought 3 in the past 2 weeks. I can't believe how inexpensive the printers are. Now, I looked on Kopy Kakes and it does not seem to have the cannon 1700 printer on the website. Is it the same as the 1500??

Apparently not. None of the edible ink suppliers have it on their compatibility list.

The 1700 is not the same as the 1500. icon_sad.gif I called KopyKake and they recommend purchasing the Epson C88 printer. It is a little bit more expensive than the Canon.

You can get the C88 on Amazon for around $80. Sounds pretty good to me, as I paid in the neighborhood of $115 for each of my ip1500s.

Make sure if you purchase from Ebay that the printer is new and hasn't been used with regular inks. Go to Kopykake or IcingImages and research the printers they have inks for and then search for the printer you like elsewhere for a better price. At least that way you'll know which printers will work.

Thanks val_nutrimetics, for the info...but I did get it a little too late...I already purchased the pixma o[ 1700 and ordered the ink...I'll probably get it tomorrow. I guess I'll post the ink on ebay and try to sell it...for cost with free shipping. But any-who, I just order the epson c88 from walmart.com and ordered some ink from kopykake. I can't wait until next week when everything arrives and I can pull it out, hook it up, and start printing.
