I was just wondering if anyone had used soap molds for choc molds. They have some really cute soap molds that i think would make adorable choc molds but i have not been brave enough to buy any and try them.

Anyone have experience with these and if so how did it work?

thanks
tina

I have been thinking of the same thing. The molds aren't very expensive and I think I might just try it and see if it works.

Most of the soap/chocolate molds will say they are for both. You just can't do hard candy in them (they can't take the temperatures). There's also a site called www.choklitmolds.com where they are really inexpensive, but you have to buy a minimum of 4 of each mold and a minimum order of $50. Having said that, they have flavoring oils for $2.95 for 4 (1 dram) bottles as well as other candy supplies also. Those 4 molds though run 86 cents each though so they're a lot less expensive.

Yes, I've bought a couple & they've worked great. In my photos, the baby shower cake has ducks & a turtle. Those were from a soap mold. They are less expensive & will give you more options.
good luck

Hi Folks,

Just a little warning, If the molds you are using are not labled food grade, the plastic they are made of may not be made of safe materials or the product may be manufactured in a plant that is not FDA approved to produce food grade products.

Keep in mind contaminates are not always food born.

I don't want to be a stick- in- the- mud but this is what keeps me from using them.

Your not being a sick in the mud. This is the best place to get many opinions from different ppl who have used these products.

Thanks EVERYONE for all your opinions. Guess i will just have to read and make sure they will be safe for food. Wouldn't want to poison anyone.... well maybe a few ppl but no one heard that lol
