this is a cake that i did for practice. it is a yellow almond sour cream cake. this is the first time i attempted to use the endless frill cutter. i have had it for over a year but was always afraid i would totally mess it up (which i did). i know my family was beginning to wonder why i keep buying cake decorating toys but never use them. i promised myself i was going to do at least one practice cake a day. tomorrow i'll tackle buttercream on a square cake.

That is neat! I have never thought of marbeling with more than one color. Isn't practicing great for trying things out that one would otherwise be too scared to do! I love how practice cakes give a person the chance to just go for it and not worry about perfection!! Great job on the marbeling!

Now I love that! What a cool marbeling job! It could be applied in so many different applications, like tyedye or a background for some springy flowers or if you did it in blues and greens an underwater scene.

Great job! icon_smile.gif

A cake a day! I would never be able to fit through my door! I would become captive in my own house just like being in cake heaven!

Practice makes perfect so keep up the good work. I wish I could practice more.

By the way I like the cool effect of the marble with the multi colors kind of Hippi Style Great for a teenage party.

Your Idea for the multi-color marveling is very pretty.
May I suggest a couple of things to make it look more neat?
The first one is to roll your fondant a little bit thicker so it shows less bumps.
The other one is when using fondant decorations, they look better when cut from thin rolled fondant.

The marbling is really cool. I know that would go over well with kids if you use primary colours.
I am going to have to start to play too.[/b]

I love the look of marblized fondant. Some posted the other day about how to make a tye-dyed look and you nailed it.

thanks everyone.

paolacaracas,

i think i'm going to try fondant again today. after, i figure out what border to put on yesterday's cake. plus i have to cook a red velvet cake for a lady that gave my son a job before she ever met him. someone told me that she loves red velvet cake so i sending her one today. i'll try to remember to make the fondant for covering the cake thicker and the fondant for accents thinner.

thanks again.
