I need to use a cake drum base for a tiered cake I am doing. What size would be best? The bottom tier is 16 inh round- so do I go with a 18 or a 20? Where is the best place to get them online? No one in my area sells them...thanks! icon_smile.gif

What kind of cake are you making? 18 inch is going to give you about an inch all the way around, whereas you get 2" edge with the 20 inch.

Not sure on where you can get them online, but this will bump you up and maybe someone else can suggest a good website.

the base should be 4 inches larger than the cake. However, I don't recall seeing them that large. You could probably get by with an 18. Here is one site:

when I dont have a cake drum on hand and I need a large cake base I cut foamcore board to the size I need. If I only have the 3/16 I glue 2 of them together and cover with the decorative foil. You can buy the foamcore at a craft store.
