Powder Colourings..

last night i iced a cake using the powder colourings, all looked fine until this morning when i noticed flecks in the colours, it looks like i havent beated the colouring in enuff.. I am wondeirng how long i have to beat it for, these flecks werent in there while i was mixing it, or while i was icing it they just appeared overnight!

any help much appriciated, thanks icon_smile.gif

When using powder colours, it's a good idea to mix it the night before, as it takes a while to settle. Then give it another mix. If you can't do that, it's best to use paste to colour the icing.

many colors require more time to 'dissolve'. when you are using bright or strong colors, it is best to make the icing and let it sit, even overnight, then re-beat it to blend the color.

I have found that paste is the best to use.

thanks guys,, i will make it up the night before from now on.. i like the powders becasue i find it lasts longer than the pastes so is more ecomomical for me icon_smile.gif
