How Do You Get The Popcorn Look??
Decorating By SpeckledFaceGrace Updated 7 Jan 2006 , 3:41pm by thecakemaker
Hello, I think that the popcorn cakes are so cute and would love to make one for movie night. My question is what tip do you use and what exactly is the technique to get the popcorn look? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and have a wonderful day!! ![]()
..there are some fantastic ones, done by our members, in the gallery section. Perhaps you could PM them for instructions.
In the meantime....Colette Peters suggest doing it this way: Cover the top of your cakes with a thin layer of BC. Then pipe large mounds of icing with tip #11 ..covering the surface of the cake. Then, with tip #7 fill in with smaller mounds of BC in between the large ones....don't be too uniform. Thin brown gel paste coloring with a little water and paint small dots of coloring in between some of the "kernals"

I asked a while back how to make the fondant one. I was told to use a ball of fondant (popcorn sized) then push a small blossom shape into the ball to make the frilly party. Sorry, not a very technical description. That was from someone on this site. Sorry, I'd love to give credit but I do not recall who it was - it was some time ago.
