So, I am obviously a newbie here!
I just wanted to make sure that I know what filling is. It is just the layer of stuff between 2 layers of cake right? Like, when I make a 2 layer cake and put buttercream frosting between it, that is my filling right? I just want to make sure I am not insane!
Also, how do you determine pricing on the filling you put in? I am doing a grooms cake in March and would love to put a filling in it. It's a choco cake with buttercream frosting, what would you recommend to fill it with?
Thank you!
You're NOT insane. The filling can be anything between the layers. The layers can be split - torted - and more filling can be done. You can use jams and curds, or jam mixed with buttercream, or flavored buttercream, or whipped cream, even fresh fruit.
Unless you are adding something special, most decorators do not charge for filling.
Chocolate cake is great with raspberry jam, or jam mixed with buttercream.
Wow, I feel alot better now!
Sometimes I think my little girl sucked all the brains out of me, I USED to be pretty smart!
Anyway, Thank you for your help and I may just have to go and make a 'test' cake to try those out! They sound sooooo good.
Hi Stupid, my name is "Duh?" Welcome to CC! ![]()
One of my favorite fillings for chocolate cake if you are looking for decadence (and you usually are for a wedding) is simply a layer of Nutella! YUM! Make sure you use an icing dam though, otherwise your layers may slide around and make a mess!!
