First off, that is such a cute design! I love the Disney lettering!

I'm not sure, but maybe it would work to use basketweave tips (but the flat side), in different sizes? icon_confused.gif

Thought I'd give it a shot and a bump!

Good luck! thumbs_up.gif

I was thinking using flat tips like the basketweave to make the stripes. Just put them right next to each other since you do not want to have any raised areas. Maybe the icer tip for the really wide yellow stripes with the flat side up? Post a pic, it looks cute.

Maybe you can do a full top fbct then add a border. Or how about piping the buttercream following the design, then after it crusts over, very carefully use Melvira's roller method over wax paper to smooth it out.

I would use the flat side of the icer tip for the wide stripes and the flat side of the basketweave tip for the thin stripes. Cant wait to see the pictures icon_smile.gif

I had the same issues with my snake stripes, since I didn't want the "stripes" to lay on top of the snake. I simply piped the lines on, with the same tip, the flat-side of the basket-weave, and then patted then once they crusted used the Viva pt method (Melvira's method didnt work since my cake was so curved-but you can use it no problem). Hope that helps!

I just had this problem the other day brians
I waited for the frosting to crust and then "flattened" it with a bit of parchment. Worked like a charm.

Christy, like others said, pipe some lines & smooth out with a viva papertowel. I've never done it but Mac uses that method & it comes out beautiful! That's gonna be a cute cake!

ribbitfroggie... that cake is fantastic!!!! I'd love the directions. Please!! icon_smile.gif

The texture was simply a tip turned around and pushed into the cake into the pattern you see, it took forever though, lol!

The snake was made out of 2 bundt pans, and then I filled in the textured parts with bc until it was smooth. Thanks!

I actually can't take credit for it, I first saw the cake on here by Jenc95, and then simply made my version of it. I simply made 2 cakes (orange crunch-delicious) from a 9" bundt pan, cut them right down the middle and laid them in a curvey form, I also carved out the head and tail at this time. I crumb coated, and then filled in the textured parts left from cooking in the bundt pan with bc until it was all smooth. Then I piped on the different colored yellow stripes, patted them down initially with cornstarch, then smoothed the whole snake with Viva. Then I piped on the black, and then did the trick with the opposite end of the tip to make the scales. Then I piped on the details-eyes, grass, and put on the fondant tongue and lettering. It was really fun! Oh, and I piped in green cool whip with the cupcake filler tip so the snake would ooze green when they cut into it. Hope that helps! Thanks to Jenc95 for the ispiration!

I would say airbrushing. But I am not very adept with an airbrush, I think it would take a stencil and a steady hand.
