helllloo!
i have to make a castle cake for tomorrow for 60 people!
however the client said she wants to cut really small pieces and that i should make it for around 40- 50 people.
i was thinking a 10" sqaure bottom (2layers) topped with 8" circles (2 layers). or should i do a 8" sq with a 6" circle in the same pattern?
Also, i was thinking of cutting cake circles and stacking them to make the turrets. do youll think thats a good idea?
any help/ideas would be highly highly appreciated. Thank you!

I've seen people on here use papertowel rolls for their turrets . . . my friend and I used soup cans. We just used blue painters tape to hold two cans together, covered them in fondant and placed them on the cak board. It worked out well.

I also used paper towel rolls and cut them to size, in length and around.
taped them and covered in fondant and used ice cream cones with Royal icing. I have a picture in my photos... my grandaughters b-cake.

I used paper towel tubes for my castle as well, and I just piped buttercream onto them in small dots and then pushed them down a little with some cornstarch to make a "rock" look. I used a 12 in square (two layers) and an 8 in round (two layers) and that was a TON of cake .. but there were not nearly fourty people there. I would say you would be safer with a ten inch square and eight in round .. but I always seem to overdue my sizes as well .. guess Im not much help! icon_redface.gif

I have heard some other CC's that have used rice crispy treats with the ice cream cones on top.

I used ice cream cones for my turrets too. One cup-style cone upside down at the bottom, one cup-style standing on top of it, one sugar cone upside down on the very top. I covered the bottom 2 with BC and MMF "stones", and the top one with melted chocolate (candy melts). It's in my pics if you're interested. Good luck!

I used a 12in square pan and 12- 3 in circular pans to build the towers. I also then used a 10 in square pan to build up the walls on the sides. I then used gum paste to create the staggered parts of the turrets. IT came out really well.

I used rice krispy treats (I formed them in a tall cannister to get the right shape) covered in MMF. For the rest of the cake, I made a 14"X14" and a 10"X10" and it was a TON of cake for a 4-year-old and her friends. I think I would go with the 10" squares and the 8" circles just to make sure you have enough.

The photo of mine is in my photos if you'd like to take a look.

I used the Wilton caslte cake pan and added additional cake cut to size and shape I wanted to make my princess castle. I also added Disney princess figurines to it. It's in my gallery if you want to look or just for some ideas. GL.

Just a side note . .. the little girl we just made the castle cake for was cruising through my Wilton yearbook and saw the cake on pg 15. (2007 yearbook) Its called Her Majesty's Palace and that little 4 year old was in love with that cake . . . maybe this is an option for you?

i just did this cake yesterday. I used the tubes from Christmas wrapping and used piping gel to adhere my fondant. the tops of the turrets are sugar cones painted with black coloring in corn syrup and water.
