I'm trying to mold gumpaste in a Wilton candy mold, and I'm having a terrible time with it sticking and not releasing from the mold. I've dusted the mold with cornstarch and even tried kneading more cornstarch into the gumpaste but that hasn't hlped either. Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm using Bakel's gumpaste if that's a need to know fact.

Thanks in advance.

Try using Crisco as your lubricating medium rather than cornstarch.

You can use siliconized potato starch, too. It won't stick to the gum paste or to the mold. Just brush the molded figure lightly after it pops out of the mold.

freeze it, and it should pop right out.

tried the freezing thing....it was not pretty...the gumpaste would not come out at all tn and it was a sticky mess when it thawed......but greasing the mold with a small amount of shortening did the trick without a problem

Thanks for the tips with the gumpaste Cakepro. Here's a picture of the completed cake. I absolutely LOVE this place!

That is SO beautiful!! I love the shells and the sea fans...what beautiful colors!

Is your fondant colored or did you airbrush it? On my little laptop screen, it looks like there are several different colors. Gorgeous!

both the fondant and the royal icing coral have been airbrushed with several colors. I'm just learning how to use it, and I don't think it's too bad for a first effort. Thanks for the great comments.
