How long will color flow keep. I made some last friday for a cake. I have another cake 2nd week of march that I am going to need to use color flow again and wondering if this batch will still be good.

Dried color flow objects should keep as long as royal icing pieces. 2 years if keep in clean cool dry place, out of the sun. I heard this from a legitimate source, but I can't quite put my finger on where I heard this from.

Sorry don't know....just wanted to say that I used Wilton colorflow last night and when I opened the canister it smelled like FISH! Fishy colorflow? yuck! Anyone else think it stinks?

Can you make your piece now?

I think that Wilton says it is good for two week. They also say their royal is good for two weeks, but I have hard of people that have saved it longer.

If you made your piece and let it dry then it would defiently be fine for the March cake. Just keep it in a cool dry place until you need it.

And yes color flow mix seems to have some sort of smell to it. Some of my students have said the icing smells like a wet god. tapedshut.gif

I wouldn't use color flow after 2 wks. It seperates & the color goes to the top & the liquid goes to the bottom of the jar. When it's like that I throw it away. I don't trust it any longer & it takes too long to stir it to a good consisitency. IF it were just for flowers I'd use it but not to be put on cookies or eaten. That's my 2cents~ icon_smile.gif

TC, Royal will seperate after a week. It doesn't make it bad, just that it needs to be mixed back together. I've even had buttercream seperate a little in the fridge.

When using the Royal or Color flow that has been sitting you should rebeat them to get the best consistancy for them.

thanks. I would like to try and make the piece early, but have to work on a b-day for my sister this week. I think I will keep it and remix it and see how it is next week and if bad I will make a new batch.

You know TC I don't have the official answer for why it seperates. But it isn't bad, it just does that. icon_smile.gif
