We are having my nephew's first birthday party on March 10th and my mom has asked me to make the cake. What she wants is a 3D cake made to look like my nephew, using an edible image print out of his face. Do you think it would work using the 3d cuddly bear pan, cutting off the ears and cutting the face flat, then putting the image in the newly flattened surface(iced of course)?

I think that would work great.

It's worth a try! I've made a couple cakes using an image for the face but they were flat cakes.

I think even with the edible image it may look strange. Just my opinion. Who wants to eat your nephew anyway? There was a thread recently with a youtube video of a baby cake... I just can't see anyone cutting your nephew and eating him. Maybe just put him on a little smash cake and then make a fun 3D cake to match the theme?

Yeah, I might try for a "baby boy" looking cake, but make the boy more cartoonish. I think trying to make him life-like might not turn out too well. You can turn him into a little superhero... like a cartoon super hero character based on your nephew. For my son I would make "Super Jonathan" with similar features, his favorite toy as his sidekick, etc.

icon_smile.gif Gee, I like that idea.. I might use it for my son's 1st cake!

I think it would look like one of these photo frames. Which might be cute though.
