Kiddiekakes..I am with you , because until recently all I ever did was character pans, and i have always love it when a child sees their cake. How many character pans do you own ?? we have over 300.

We might do that one day, but alot of the older ones are hard to part with !! Plus i have had so many of them given to me, so there is some sentimental value.

I make more character cakes than anything else and I have never even heard of people being looked down upon for having this skill.

I have made a few standard cakes, wedding, christening, adult birthday, but my most admired and remembered cakes are usually character ones.

Saying this, I don't own a single character pan, preferring to sculpt the cakes by hand as I feel this gives them a little more originality, but that doesn't mean I haven't used these pans or wouldn't use them in the future.

I think as cake decorators we should learn from one anothers triumphs as well as disasters and not break off into our own "classes".

I am not a character cake decorator, I am simply a cake decorator and I intend on continuing my craft for as long as it brings me joy.

I second that Fran!!! Your cakes are awesome and I wish I had half the talent to sculp and freehand but I don't have a stitch of natural talent that way!! HA!HA!

Thank God for the character pans!

You are all so very kind. I really enjoy my cake decorating and it's so lovely to have so many new friends to talk about it too, most of my friends are bored stupid with the topic!
