ohh, that's bad! I would just let it dry then pull it off. Sorry I don't have any advice. I have spilled candle wax on the kitchen floor. It was red... the red stain is still there! I think it will be easier to get up then if it were on tile floors. Good luck!!

Thanks TC, the only thing I have ever heard is to put ice on it, I did that only to find my little dog is eating the ice faster than I can put it on iticon_smile.gif

DISCLAMER--Please test a small spot before doing the whole ares like this!!!

I have done this-(I think it was a hint from Heloise or Martha) Use an old towel or one you don't care to ruin, lay it on the wax, run a warm iron over it. The idea is to heat the wax to a melting stage again and get it to stick to the towel while warm remove the towel. Continue to repeat the process until desired effect. I did this and it worked pretty well. My candle was white though and left no stain.

I've seen this trick done on TV. I haven't personally done it though. Good luck!

Grab a gallon of gasoline.
Saturate the carpet with the gas.
From at least 3 feet away, toss a lit match.
The wax will melt.
The fire department will come and put out the fire.
The wax will be completely gone!
Everybody will feel sorry for you and give you money to replace the carpet.
Cool idea huh?

..glad this topic came up! I have a hunk of melted wax on a windowsill and wasn't sure what to do! I'm going to try the "iron" idea and see if that works.

Irisinbloom...good luck to you with the green and beige! I'm lucky mine is just white on white!

what works better than a towle is a brown paper bag. depending on how much wax there is you may need quit a few. learned it in art class. use the hot iron and the brown bag will absorb the wax. I promise it works like a charm.

Steam off.

I don't know if I would try it on a painted or plastic surface though. I think you'd be better off, MrsMissey, using ice and a gentle scrubbie then perhaps mrclean magic eraser.

I had wax on my carpet too and the ice worked great to make it harden to the point of being brittle enough to break apart.

I read somewhere that you heat the wax with a hairdryer, then as it melts wipe it up with a damp towel.

Hi all--I had this happen only once. I used a heated iron on a paper towel. It worked great! Good luck with yours.

My kids dumped a HUNTER GREEN jar candle onto my NEW white carpet one Christmas...............AFTER the screaming fit I threw, I boiled water...poured it onto the carpet, sponged it up with a bath towel....and repeated this over and over til there was not a hint of green to be seen. That was eight years ago and I can't even see the spot where it happened.

my DH lays floors of all kinds and he said first to break off any big pieces then to spray with WD40 let sit then use a scrub brush or towel as close to the same color as the carpet and it should lift right out. my DH says you should not use water or heat because there is a latex backing on the carpet and it will dissolve with water and heat will separate the carpet from the backing and if the carpet is new it will void the warranty. let me know if you get it out.
