My sil just called and told me that her and her dh are going to renew their vows in April. Right now he is deployed and he'll be comng home for R&R in April. She wants me to make their cake. I am excited. Mostly because I've only done three cakes and she has that much faith in me. It's a small party, only about 20 people, and I'm the bridesmaid too. I can't wait, mostly because he'll be home and safe for two weeks.

That's so cool!!!

My husband and I renewed our vows nearly 7 years ago, during our 10th year of marriage. We had a nice party, but no bridesmaids! LOL Is your SIL throwing a second wedding??

Yes, I never heard of having attendants at a vow renewal. Usually some close friends, family and a nice party. Your cake will be so meaningful. Maybe something with a love theme.... Not a wedding cake right?

If I were renewing my vows, I think I would choose either a small recreation of my wedding cake. Just one layer with a similar design and maybe a few flowers. Or to have a small version of the cake I REALLY wanted.

I loved my wedding cake, but I had something else in my head that I wanted. We never can afford my taste...

My husband and I are renewing our vows for our 10th anniversary this year. We got married in vegas the first time around and it was just us and no cake, so this time our family gets to join in. We decided to renew our vows on the beach in Daytona and I can't wait to do my "tropical" wedding cake.
