Has anyone ever added sprinkles or sugar crystals to their cookies without the icing? I have a customer who wants sugar cookies with sprinkles/sugar crystals only. She doesn't want the royal icing on the cookies.

Do I sprinkle the cookies as soon as they come out of the oven? This is the only way I think they would stick to the cookies.

Any other suggestions?

hi ive heard of sprinkling them on after they come out when they still hot, but ive never tried it.

i know when i make fondant covered cookies i put the fondant on as soon as they come out and it helps them stick to the cookie..im guessing its the same thing

Hi,
When I use sugar crystals w/o any icing I always put it on the cookies before I bake them. I find the sugar crystals stay on the cookies once they are baked.
I just sprinkle on a light amount of sugar crystals or sprinkles and it seems to work fine.
Good luck!!

I've done a "wash" with egg whites and sprinkled sugar on the cookies before baking... always seems to come out fine!

I have customer who's allergic to eggs, so I had to use a little bit of corn syrup and it works just perfectly fine.

The sugar crystals will work well before baking but be careful of sprinkles . . . if you use regular ice cream type sprinkles before baking the color tends to bleed onto the cookie. (I think they're called jimmies?)
