They'd probably be something different than a treat! LOL -- hmmm- that's a good question. Just giving you a bump.

you could try using corn syrup. It would be really sticky, but I think you could always add a dusting of powdered sugar to help with that.

Why don't you just melt a small amount of marshmallow? I don't think you would need to use the exact recipe. Unless you have no marshmallow.... then I dunno. cowboy.gif

Edited to say....
Does anyone actually measure when making rice crispy treats anyway?

I agree with nichi. Just melt a small amount of marshmallow and butter and add as many rice krispies to make the amount you need and the texture you need. I don't think it needs to be exact. Or can you 1/2 or 1/4 the recipe?

Yes I would normallly would melt alittle marshmallow ut sadly I have none and am just waiting for a contractor to come and can't leave the house just wondering if I could use something else. Corn syrup and powdered sugar sounds like it would work. Does anyone have the ingredients handy .. any cornstarch ect???

Hey maybe you could use royal icing? It would end up pretty stiff right, but if you already know the shape you need to end up with I don't think it would matter.

Hello cheekysweets...

this is becoming my standard response: Use chocolate!

I would simply melt some white chocolate & stir in some Rice Krispies; while still soft, shape as needed.
that should work -
let me know!

Could you use a sugar syrup?? I seen on the Food Network, a lady had a business of making rice krispy treats to look like sushi, but she didn't use marshmallows. She didn't say exactly what it was(but said it wasn't mms), but they showed a picture of it and it looked like a type of sugar syrup. Anyone know? Jen

Would tempering the chocolate work better?

Hey, white chocolate! Now there's an idea. That sounds really interesting! Why not? People use it to make haystacks with cornflakes. Give it a go and let us know! thumbs_up.gif

I'd use the chocolate, or corn syrup with a little extra sugar to make it thicken a bit.

Hello nglez09...

I would think that for this, it would be easier to use white candy melts.. no need to worry about tempering.
I might even try this myself.
