I am making a beach themed cake and have to make sand. I got great ideas from all my CC's out there. Question, how do I get the sand to stick to fondant? Would it be easier to use buttercream on that part instead? Also how to you apply it on the sides of the cake? I just want sand in a cretain section, waves are going next to it. How do I make sure I do not have a mess of sand everywhere?

Help I am sticking in the kitchen staring at the cake and not sure what to do....

I can always count on CC for help. I used piping gel on the fondant and it looks so good. I made a light yellow with a touch of brown fondadnt and used light yellowsugar on it. So cute. Thanks Kiddiekakes and sassijen.

I think it depends on the look you want, I made a cake with "sand" a couple months ago and I used buttercream because I wanted it bumpy anyway and I'm lazy. It worked great, I just iced and immediatly started sticking my crumbs on and I didn't even have to worry about crumbs. icon_lol.gif
