Hi.. I am planning to do my own wedding cake,but im having some trouble with ideas on decorating my cake... I have chosen to do th cupcake tree with a small round cake on top... What i need help with is, decorating the stand and cupcakes... The colors i have chsen for my wedding are Brown, Cream And Gold... Does anyone have any suggestions on what i can use to decorate and accent my cake and cupcaked with using these colors? 
When is your wedding? Are you using a specific kind of flower to compliment those colors. If so, you might want to decorate you cupcakes and cake with flowers to match the ones you are using.
You could do fondant, buttercream or gumpaste, whichever you are most comfortable with.
I've never made one of these, just throwing out a suggestion. Someone who is experienced in making these may have better ideas.
Have you looked thru all the cakes in the galleries, yet? Whenever I am stuck I borrow something from a bunch of cakes and put them together. What about all the bottom cakes with say roses, next row up, swirls, then roses etc. You know alternate patterns and colors ending up with something really special for the top. Sorry, probably not very helpful, but ..... Good Luck with the wedding plans.

My wedding will be on October 14,2006...I'm just having a really hard time finding brown items to accessorize with...I was considering using fresh roses or carnations, but having a hard time deciding... Do any of you know if there's a way to make gold icing? I think that would make a nice touch to the cupcakes, but i have no clue where to begin to create it or find it...Im trying to get a couple of practice cakes in so i'll master my design by the time the wedding is here...

Just thinking here...how about making the first letter of your new last name out of melts, brushing with gold luster dust and putting them on your cupcakes. Seems easier than attempting to make all those flowers.
