I need help with supporting a 3 tiered MMF covered cake. I am doing a 10-6-3 cake. I really don't want to invest in a fancy, expensive doweling system for an occasional cake. Is it posible to use drinking straws? I was think of doing 8-5-3 straws. Would this be enough?? They would be on cake boards as well. Anyone have any other cheap, around the house ideas for cake support?
Thanks

When I went to Walmart they had the wooden dowels for around $3. And yes I think you can use straws (my wedding cake had straws in it) if you don't want to spend any $$$. As for how many, I read on here 1 for every 2". But no less than 4. HTH.
