I have to agree on the dipped peanut butter Ritz. A friend of mine gave me some of these years ago: he used ritz bits. Oh, they are so addictive!! I made them last year with almond bark and sprinkled with red or green sugar.
Another idea from Taste of Home. These are a bit expensive and time consuming, but SOO cute!
Santa Cookies
Take 1 pack of Nutter Butters. Dip the bottom and top in almost bark, leaving the "mid section
clean. Dip the top in red sprinkles or red sugar. Use mini chocolate chips for the eyes and a red hot for the mouth. Use a white chip for the "pom-pom" on the hat. I think there were also mini chips or rded hots for the buttons down the middle.
Anyway, they took a while, but they were adorable!!
I made sooooo many dipped things this year but its a good thing, I'm allergic to chocolate so it will save my wasteline and I got to do my baking anyway!!
I made: Choc. covered cake balls
Chocolate covered almond clusters sprinkled with coconut
Chocolate shortbread cookies dipped in 3 kinds of chocolate
Chocolate covered pretzels
Chocolate covered shortbread cookies with white choc. in center
Chocolate grahams
Chocolate cookies with caramel on top then dipped in Chocolate
I honestly can't wait to get this stuff out of my freezer!!
I did make a couple of things that weren't choc.
I made an orange and almond biscotti and some lemonade cookies and peppermint fudge which was choc. just not dipped.
I had to make enough of this stuff to make 20 baskets!! I've been busy and my freezer has been full for weeks. I haven't made a single cake though and am sad for that. Well, I did make a cake but i turned it into cake balls so it doesn't count. I have a couple of Jan. birthdays coming up so I will get my cake fix then. Decorating fix I should say, not eating, don't eat cake, just create it.
Happy holidays to all!!
I dipped a lot this year too. Made peppermint almond bark, oreo bark, choc. covered peanutbutter ritz, thin mints with ritz, and dipped all my cake bites in choc. If only I were allergic
.
But I have to say the best thing of all is dipping big marshmallows in choc. almond bark. Then making some homemade hot chocolate(which I also made this year for the first time!) and dropping a few of the dipped marshmallows in. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!
Since my name is candyladyhelen....you guessed it! I make tons of candy! Buttercreams, choc. buttercreams, peppermint patty, peanut butter cup, raspberry cream, strawberry cream, caramels, coconut creams, oreos, pretzels, marshmallows, peanut butter filled pretzel logs,
gourmet apples, butter crunch! And my problem is....I eat it too!
I just posted a pic of some of the things I have been dipping. Let me know what you think....I can take it. I sold each one of these for $25.00. I sold 10 sets of them. Next year I will start sooner!!!
There is a store on the Board Walk here called the Chocolate Crocidile... YUMMY!!!! They are known for their carmel apples. They dip the apple in anything! Carmel, choc, white choc, coconut, peanuts, some are called hot apple pie & they add oatmeal crumbles around the apple YUM!! So many different flavors! They only charge $6 an apple. The apples are huge. YUMMY!!
All of your ideas are wonderful!! Making me want to do some dipped chocolate! But I'm sick so I'm staying out of the kitchen.
This year I decided to make homemade marshmallows! Boy are they fun and turned out yummy - I made vanilla, peppermint, lemon and orange all dipped in chocolate. I made up boxes with an assortment in them to give to my bunco group - Big Hit!! My dad requested coconut so I will give that a try tomorrow!
