What Are "angel Tears"? They Look Soooo Cool!

I was looking at this months edition of American Cake Decorating Magazine when I saw an ad on page 41 for Beryl's Cake Decorating & Pastry Supplies. In the ad they have a picture of a jar labeled "Angel Tears". There are a few of them out of the jar in front of it and they look like little diamonds! If this is some kind of edible jewel I want it!! They would look so cool on a cake. Only thing is that I can't figure out what they are. I went to the Beryl's website and did a search for them but didn't find anything.
Do any of you know what this is and where I can get them?
TIA,
Lazy_Susan
I found it on their site, but there is no picture. Sounds cool though! It is under edibles.
HeatherMari found them for me. They look really cool. Here is the link to them http://beryls.safeshopper.com/141/cat141.htm?422 I wonder how long they will keep for? I wouldn't mind spending the money for them if they last a while. That way I would have them if I Ever got an order that might call for them.

I'd be concerned with how long they keep as well - the item description says that they require express shipping because they are perishable. Makes me think that the "shelf life" isn't too long. ![]()
I'd love to see them on a cake, I imagine they would be an amazing accent on the right design.
This is how the site describes them and they say they are perisable, quick shipping so they must not last long and they are now on sale for 78.00 ![]()

anyway here's what they say about them.
This product is unique. A small clear gelatin capsul filled with 24-karat gold leaf. Angel Tears are water soluble and flavourless - a perfect garnish for cocktails, a glass of champagne or as an elegant food decoration.
With the holidays approaching, this item is offered at a special price whilst our stock lasts.
Ingredients : sugar, wine, calcium lactate, sodium alginate, lemon juice, gold leaf, sulfer dioxide, sodium acetate.
This is from Beryl's and there is a picture there of them.
They do look nice but is seems kind of crazy for the price. The cost of any cake that you put them on who be crazy also.
Also, I wonder how long they would last stuck on a cake? It says they are water soluble.
I was wondering about that too. What I was thinking about doing with them was to have them dangling off the cake with wire. I'm thinking about emailing them to ask about the shelf life.
If there is white wine and gold leaf inside of a gelatin capsule, the liquid will dissolve the gelatin in a short while.
You can buy small empty gelatin capsules at health food stores. I think they are usually long though, instead of round. They come in 2 parts.
