I'm making my daughter's birthday cake, and I really want it taste good. I've read great things about both of these recipes, but I cannot decide which to make. Can anyone tell me which of these two recipes is better tasting?
Thanks!

I really like them both. But I made the WASC cake for my dad's birthday party and have never heard so many raves about a cake! The only thing I would consider is that the almond flavoring can be quite strong, which may not be that appealing to younger children. You could always make the WASC and maybe cut the almond flavoring in half. (I did use pure extract which may be stronger than the imitation, I'm not sure. Just a little strong for my taste.)

The WASC is an awesome cake. Everytime I make it I get cake orders from it. I only use 1 tsp of vanilla and 1/2 tsp of almond instead of the full tsp (this is when making a one box batch).

For children's parties I'm always leary of nut allergies so I make certain no one attending will be allergic. Genreally to play it safe, I just put 2 tsp of vailla and NO almond; you get a white vanilla sour cream cake. You can even throw fresh strawberries or some other fruit filling between the layers and EVERYBODY loves it!

Its my staple wedding cake recipe and one the easiest recipes I've ever used.

Everyone I know loves the WASC. It is good with all vanilla extract. You can also make it in a ton of different flavors just by changing the mix. I personally like the almond flavoring. Yummy!!

I always use the DH cake extender recipe when I make my cakes. I made the WASC cake, I thought it was ok. My husband didn't like it at all, he said "This isn't like your other cakes". I would just do a test run and see which one you prefer.

WASC = White Almond Sour Cream cake. the recipe is here in the recipe section.

Forgot to say earlier, my DH wasn't crazy about it either. But everyone else loved it. I think it's because WASC is more like a scratch cake in texture, and he's used to eating my doctored mixes.

WASC - use creme bouquet instead of almond. I think I used just over 1teaspoon with no other flavorings.

Creme Bouquet is a delicious flavor enhancer that I use in my buttercream. It is delicious. Before I started putting creme bouquet in my icing everyone thought my cakes were good. Now, everyone thinks my cakes are absolutely delicious. I get RAVE reviews about my cakes and it wasn't until I started using creme bouquet. You can get it from sugarcraft.comn.

Can you help me out a little on the sugarcraft.com site? I found the creme bouquet, but you have to buy twelve bottles...I just want ONE!! I had a hard time finding it to start with, so maybe I went to the wrong spot...thanks...

That's strange, I usually buy one bottle at a time. I just checked their website and found a 4 oz bottle for $2.49. Once you log onto it, type in creme bouquet in th search box. Then, scroll down and you will see it. They offer it in 4 oz, 8 oz, and one gallon bottles. Check out their creme royale, too. It's my favorite.

this site has tons of flavorings for what seems like pretty decent prices.

I found it!!! icon_lol.gif Thanks!! I was looking in the special order section!! icon_sad.gif

the price is good, if you could go there and pick it up, but I don't want to pay three times the amount of the product for shipping!! icon_eek.gif It would end up cost me about $11 for 2 oz...YIKES icon_eek.gif Do cake supply stores carry this? I am going to check the next time I go to Amarillo and see if they have it...or can get it cheaper!

Thanks for the help!! thumbs_up.gif
