I thought that half of the girls were just awful, WHAT in the world were they doing there? However, the other half....all I can say is WOW WOW WOW. Am I the only one who remembers that "All by myself" is NOT originally a Celine Dion song? Someone else, very successfully sang it first. So WHY is she being compared to Celine (by Simon)? I don't like Celine, but I liked what that little gal did with that song. This was one very rare occasion I disagree with Simon. I had to vote for Jordin too, that's the first AZ girl (that won AZ IDOL) that has been really good. I won't event talk about Melinda and Lakisha because they are completely COMPLETELY in a different league. They were awesome.
But yeah, the guys were AWFUL and I think all but one or two should be sent home.
Hurrah! I can watch AI with a good conscience now. At least 1/2 the girls were AWESOME! Great stories and voices. Go Lakisha! Go Stephanie! Go Melinda! Go Sabrina! Go Jordin!
Get rid of all but 2 guys, and it's a good show again!
No matter what happens Lakisha and Melinda better have recording contracts after this!

I didn't watch all of the girls yet as the cold meds kicked in too soon, but I did see the first 3. The first girl, can't remember her name, was phenominal for 19 yo. What attitude she had when she sang! It was great! I'm looking forward to hearing Lakisha. They played part of her on the radio this morning (Baltimore radio station) and they were so proud of her.

It was done by Nielson. That's all he's known by. It was in 1974-ish. I remember for 2 reasons. I bought the album and it was warped so my mom had to take me back to the record store to exchange it, so that made it before I could drive.
Two....The song is the love story from the movie "Frankentstein - Rated X". Even tho' I was only 15, I worked the theater concession stand when this rated X movie played. It was not rated X for sex .... it merited an X rating for blood and gore. Although compared to some of the Freddie and Jason movies of today, it probably seems pretty mild. I remember some of the scenes that I won't describe here ..... compared to today's standards or not, it's was a REALLY gorey movie.
I just LUV sharing that info with my little 20-something friends, who have NO IDEA that a Frankenstein Rated X movie even existed! 
As far as AI ..... I usually don't watch too much in the beginning. I wait for the weed-out to take place. But there are no big stand outs that I can see..... No Chris Daughtery's, Taylor Hicks, or Beau Bice (Beau ...... ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
I just wish so many of them would NOT do a slow, boring song on the first night. They need to jump in with a song that makes us want to DANCE with them! Fast, great beat, exciting! Not some "oh let's all go to sleep now" song. One girl said that last night ... as she reveiwed past tapes, she saw that ballads didn't work for past contestants.
But regardless .... we are AI addicts! I will only miss AI if Apprentice is on!
I'm a huge AI fan as well and haven't been as intersted this year as previous years. I think it's due to not feeling connected with the singers. Plus, the guys are not so great this year.

If I had to decide today, I say a girl is going to win. None of the guys are standing out except for two: The one with the big hair (chris) and the one with the beard (SUndance). I like the girl with the red splotches in her hair (Gina) and Lakisha. But I'm not really hooked into any of them like I have been in the past. Shoot, last year, we were cheering for Taylor Hicks from the first audition!
Oh I know!!!!! Soul Patrol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I KNEW I was voting for Taylor at the first audition. This season doesn't even COMPARE to last! If I see last season on dvd, I'm buying it!
I would probably say I agree too but I havent watched AI since Clay and Rueben..... it just doesn't tickle my fancy anymore..... I think they need to give it a rest for a year........
Another boring night for the "boys"...I agree this season really stinks. Nobody has the "wow factor"...There are few I like (in a luke warm sort of way)mostly the single mom w/ the big voice..can't think of her name but even w/ her I'm not totally jumping up and down but she is the best I guess.
I agree, tonight the guys were bad! 
What happened? This season is just not good! I think the girls are better than the guys though.

he just had a new cd come out....man if he was on this year....he'd blow the others away.
of course who couldn't like taylor???...he was so full of personality!
