HI, I have a bride looking to get a red velvet cake, in red fondant with a silver ribbon aroud the base. 3 tier stacked. She is concerned about the red gettting all over and staining. Has any one done this? How did it turn out.
Thanks,

White fondant is easy to color with Americolor gels.. but quite messy. It shouldn't turn your teeth that red.It won't stain unless iot get wet or moist.

Are you buying premade fondant or making your own?

I make MMF and I color the marshmallows when melted. Then add the PS. I haven't not had problems with the color getting on everything when I make red/black/or dark blue MMF. It just doesn't get everywhere.

Not sure if this helped or not but I have not had problems with it.

Test some to be sure, but fondant colored red will color lips, tongues and teeth. It takes quite a bit of color, and you will need to adjust for the extra moisture.

Personally, I would buy red fondant. The color is a bit more stable, and saves some work. But, I think there will still be a bit of color transfer.

You could suggest white with lots of red trim?
