has any put together two 1/2 sheet cakes to make a whole sheet. my oven is to small for a full sheet pan and i was wondering if i can still work my way around that.
I dont see why not....I have made a full sheet by combining 4 1/4 sheets before. It looked fine.... I am sure you can do it!
Just remember you will need a very sturdy board that will not flex at all-masonite or wood is best. Any flexing of the board will cause a small separation between the cakes.
thanks fot the sturdy board advice. i always wondered if the seams from putting the cakes together show.
I'm doing that right now! I just baked 4 12 x 18s, torted them and crumb coated them. They are in the freezer separatelyand will be put together next week as a full sheet bottom tier of a 5 tier stacked wedding cake. If it works for half-round pans, I don't see why it wouldn't work for this. (I hope!!!!!!)
My airport cake (in my photos) was 5 quarter sheet cakes put together and that worked fine.
Just put a bit of icing on the sides before you put the two halves together and a little extra on top to make sure the seams are well concealed!
