Ok you can laugh because I am...

Do I bake the cookies with the stick or insert them after removing from oven?

Also , I have printed out Penny's Cookie's recipe (from Penny's Pastries of Austin) in this recipe it also has a recipe for Royal Frosting and a BASIC GLAZE , does the cookies need a basic glaze before decorating?

You insert the sticks into the raw dough and then bake.

The cookies do NOT need a basic glaze before using the royal icing. (In fact I would be concerned that the glaze would negatively effect the Royal Icing)

And that is what we are all here for - to help each other - any laughs you hear are because we had the same questions once, or made a mistake and we are remembering the results!

Good luck with the cookies !

I'm really new to the cookie decorating thing--I do put the stick in before I bake them, I know some people do it the other way too. I can't answer your question about the glaze because I use MMF on my cookies!!

I wouldn't laugh! We have all asked those questions! Some people insert the sticks after but I prefer to do it before. I turn the cookie to the "back"side, lay the stick on it and cover with dough.

I don't use a glaze first. I think there are a few on here that do so maybe they can give you some advice on that.

Good luck!! Let us know what you decide.

You can insert the stick eithor way. If you do it after it needs to be immediately after.

You'll want to cover your cookie with something; fondant, royal icing, or glaze then all details. That's really so you'll have the cookie fully iced for taste.

I use rolled buttercream on m cookies, so can't answer re. the glaze, BUT, I insert my sticks immediately after I pull them from the oven! You should try this both ways, before and after, to see what works best for you!
