Geesh, we are quiet? What is everyone having for their Christmas dinner? I was thinking Chinese Food so we could be, "Woking Around the Christmas Tree...."
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell wok...
Now that is desperate for conversation!

Cleaning house and tree decorating, falala - lalala - la - la - la
Who has time to do the baking, falalalala - lala - humbug!

Since we are multi-denominational, how about for Chanukah,
Bagel, bagel, bagel, it tasted just like clay
Bagel, bagel, bagel, why does she bake this way?

My favourite,
Imagine no possessions, no bills past due
No Visa or Master Card, only cash in your hand
Imagine all the people, paying their bills today - you -oo -oo
You can say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
Perhaps one day you will join us, and the interest will be none

I would have been more than happy to post in this conversation yesterday when I was so painfully trying to endure 2 4-hour seminars for a Microsoft product launch. I think getting my teeth pulled out without numbing meds would have been more entertaining. I never before said "i'd rather be at work".

Ouch, is that some new form of torture where they force you to stay awake through material that is guaranteed to put you to sleep? You poor thing!

Here's another one for you... (not original)

Deck the Halls

Tune: Deck the Halls With Boughs of Holly
Note: Politically correct version

Deck the halls with boughs of non-endangered plant species,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

'Tis the season to be self-actualizing,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

Don we now our alternate-lifestyle apparel,
Fa la la, la la la, la la la

Toll the ancient non-denominational-winter-solstice-holiday carol,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

See the blazing log of non-denominational-winter-solstice-holiday-non-endangered wood before us,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

Play the harp without unnecessary brutality and join the chorus,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

Sing we emotionally stable in a collective group effort,
Fa la la, la la la, la la la

Heedless of the weather patterns despite the effects of global warming,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

Fast away the mature year passes,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

Hail the new year without any implicit ageism, ye persons,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

Dance in a non-hierarchical manner in merry measure,
Fa la la, la la la, la la la

While I tell of non-materialistic, non-denominational- winter-solstice-holiday treasure,
Fa la la la la, la la la la

Boy, being PC can sure mess up your rhyme scheme, can't it???

Heehee, now that one would be difficult to recall the words of, haha!
Yes we do live in an age of political correctness, don't we? I hope in my lifetime to see a time when all customs and holidays are respected and shared by all peoples. I think we have a responsibility to educate each other about tradition and include others from different backgrounds in our celebrations. Prejudice and hatred are born of ignorance and ignorance breeds fear.
There are just so many wonderful celebrations that we all could benefit from learning about and instead of trying to come up with generic terms, we should call things what they are and expose others to all customs so that we can truly celebrate our differences while none of us would have to compromise our beliefs.
I can dream!

Heehee, and where did anyone get the idea that I have energy, haha! Spent 9 hours shopping today and I can barely talk...
Unfortunately for you folks, I can still sing!
Hhmn,
Oh, the shopping out there is frightful,
But the sales are so delightful
But since I've run out of dough
Let is snow, let is snow, let is snow....

You know Tanyap, there are so many wonderful customs that people have, I hope I live long enough to learn about them.
I think the common thread that binds us is love of family and respect of ourselves and others. We can learn so much from each other when we take our blinders off and open our ears and our hearts.

well, if we are talking about respect for people's customs, then we shouldn't parody anyone's nationalities in any way shape or form and call it humor.

I for one don't find a parody about woks or bagels funny and I'm funny enough for a roomful of people, I find that tolerating or encouraging this type of humor is FOR ME, the start of disrespecting someone for the very thing that makes them, them and unique.

I don't even like to walk by and hear someone African American call themselves or each other by the N word. It is NOT acceptable for me.

I am VERY aware of people as I have Bi-racial children and refuse to perpetuate what I feel is a veiled insult to someone's culture by covering it in some misguided "HUMOR".

Like I've posted before....Just my opinion, I could've kept it to myself, but, we are all adults here and I think that what I think, can be processed as it was intended to....a random thought and insight to the person that is me and NOT an attack on ANYONE.

That said..

lol

HAPPY HOLIDAZE! and may all your gifts be what you wished for and if they are not, at least let them be returnable!

PS: To make matters worse, I don't even celebrate Christmas...Haven't in a long time, to make it possible to keep all the relatives happy and quiet, I share in THEIR celebrations, and have a wonderful time celebrating EPIPHANY, ...JANUARY 6th...That MY Christmas!

Feliz Navidad, Felices Pasquas..and all that jazz!

PSS: Not trying to start a new thread or an argument..just my humble opinion...sorry!
