I've been told two different ways about when to put your boarders on. Just curious what you all do. Do you put your boarder on first or last??

I was told to put them on first but I find it works out better if I put them on last!

I was tuaght to put them on last. I was basically taught to decorate cakes form the top center to the outside and then down.

I was taught to put them on last so they are not in your way while you are decorating the rest of the cake.

I always border the cake last, unless it's a top border and I have lots of design on top, then I do that first because it helps me to see exactly how much room I have to work with. But mostly I do them last to set off the cake.

I do mine last. If I did them first I would demolish them and end up having to redo them anyway - LOL

I put them on hmmmph, gosh, when I remember to do it.

I know I write first....as for anything else, it's when I feel like doing it.

For me it depends on what I need to do for the cake. Like, if I'm not sure if I'll have room to write what I need, I'll put the border first so that the decor can spill over onto it if needed, but usually, I do border last.

We put them on last to cover up any gaps between the cake board and the cake itself.

I usually do them last. Unless I have flowers on the top that would cascade over the sides. In that case the border would go on before the flowers.

I was taught to put them on last, but my personal preference is to put them first. It helps me with placement of other decorations and I don't have any problems ruining them by putting them first.
