I tried making a bow out of MMF following the tutorial, but it didn't dry hard enough. icon_cry.gif I've read that adding gum-tex to the MMF will help, but I'm not sure how what the ratio of gum-tex to MMF should be. Any help with this would be great because I want to try again tonight.

Thanks,
tsc

In the Wilton Course 3 they tell you to add a teaspoon per over 12oz. I don't think this is something you really have to measure though. When I am working with things I usually just dump some on instead of measuring. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Just depends on how fast I want the object to dry out, and how much time I need to work with it.

thanks for the suggestions. My schedule hasn't let me finish taking the wilton courses yet. I'm assuming that the more gum-tex I use, the faster it will dry out?

I tend to use about 3 tsp. to 10 ounces by weight, but like was said, it is a matter of feel. You will get some discolouring from the gum-tex, a bit of a peachy hue. Otherwise you are really better off using gumpaste or mixing between 1/3 to 1/2 prepared gumpaste to fondant. Having said that, haha, I tend to mix the gum-tex powder in.
