Disposable Or Parchment Decorating Bags???

Hi, everyone!
Ok, I've only used disposable bags-which I have washed & re-used if not very wrinkled to save $$$-for decorating & one Wilton bag with the icing tip. Would parchment be better/wiser/CHEAPER??? Can I use rolled parchment? Do you use the coupler with parchment?
Oh yeah, this isn't for cakes I sell or anything--just family stuff.

The parchment triangles are the cheapest bag there is and can be used with couplers.
I use a mixture of all three bags for different things. When buying the plastic bags I try to use a coupon and buy the 100 box. Even with out the coupon that box is the better deal. Now if only they'd come out with a bigger box.

I am not smart enough to fold them. My brain goes to mush when I try. Maybe it is a left handed thing again!

..when making the parchment traingles makes sure follow the directions, which is the opposite way your head tell you to do it...otherwise, when you screw the round part on the coupler, it will be working against you. This is coming from a lefty that learned the hard way! Hope this makes sense to you.
I still use both types of bags. If I only need a small amount of a color, I cut a 15" parchment triangle in half and make 2 small bags out of it. I hate those vinyl bags because I never felt like I could really get them clean. I switched to the Kee-Seal disposable bags and love them!

I bought a batch once that every so few, one would blow out the side or spring a leak 
I'd drop the busted one inside a good one and keep going. I don't know what was wrong with them.
I've had a few stretch a little when the icing was a little stiff, but only one has ever busted. Sorry you didn't have much luck with them.

Oh it was just that one batch. The disposable are all I use and even a batch of exploding ones couldn't keep me away from them
I use the plastic disposable bags. I'd use parchement if they came assembled--even the added steps of forming the bag isn't worth the trouble to me. I also don't like the work of having to wash the featherlight bags, the plastic bags are just to convenient for me to use anything else.

I prefer the vinyl for large colours and use parchment trinangles split in half for smaller batches. I dont mind the clean up to much. but if im feeling lazy i will use parchment. I just feel it is a waste to throw stuff out, when i have something reuseable. Plus i like the feel of the wilton featherweight bags. My two cent 
i use disposable bags and i only buy the box of 100 when i have a coupon.
I have one featherweight bag I use when I'm using tips that need the large coupler, otherwise I use Wilton disposable bags. I hate cleaning bags!

I was the one that mentioned Hobby Lobby will have the 40% off coupon until the end of the holidays. I think Michaels is doing the same thing in their ads.

When I clean my "disposable" bags, I use the hottest water from the tap & Palmolive dish detergent, then air dry over a clean glass or jar. Since they wrinkle, though, I can only do it once or twice if I didn't use them much. Just hate to waste $$$, especially since I don't get paid for my hobby! 
The most bags I've ever bought was a box of 50 at Walmart for about $12.
I'm definitely going to check out Michaels though since there is one not too far from where I live. Is Hobby Lobby only online? I've never heard of it before.

I use all three types.....think parchment is good due to cheap and disposable...but even tho I can fold them alright...FOLDING THEM MAKES ME MAD...AND IT SLOWS ME DOWN...AND SO I COP AN ATTITUDE WHEN I USE THEM! butiusethemanyway.
I'll usually sit down and make some up 10-20 then save them for when I am doing a cake. Then I can just grab and use. It's one of those things you can do while watching tv.
I use the disposable bags only when I have to use lots of icing with one particular color or design like basketweave. Otherwise I use the parchment bags for everything else. I also make lots in advance, so they're there when I need them. I will never spend anymore money on featherweight bags. I purchased few and when I used them for different strong colors I had a very difficult time cleaning them. Even boiled them for hours in detergent and vinegar. Couple popped out of the pan falling near the fire and burned. So, my favorites are the parchment bags.
