I've been looking through the galleries and have seen cakes with Christmas trees. Are the trees made using an ice cream cone as a base? If so what tip is best to use to get the evergreen look?

I've used a 74 or 75 when doing trees. You can also use a star tip.

I have made trees with upside down sugar cones covered in Royal Icing. I used a small star tip. I have also seen that some use BC. I have the trees on one of my comping cakes, but my icing was too thin so you can't really tell I used the star tip. Good Luck, hoped this helped.

Thanks so much. I thought I had seen instructions for the cone trees somewhere, but couldn't remember. Now all I need to do is find the time to play!

I like using the tip #352...it looks pretty cool with that one!
