Good job!! You should get more recognition if you continue to make the cakes cuter each time you design one.
I want to copy that design!!!!

Wow! I love it! What a creative cake. I'm filing it in my mental cake file... thumbs_up.gif
Was there anything in particular you didn't like about it? I don't see anything wrong...it's fantastic!

Working with the fondant for the jersey was kind of a pain. It kept cracking where the sleeve on the right side is connected to the shirt. I just filled it in with black bc. That's really all I could think of without having to start over completely and honestly I don't think I have the patience or the energy at 11:42 at night!! LOL icon_eek.gif Any tips on why this maybe happened or how to keep it from happening again? I had a lot of crisco to smooth but it just got to be to much....I don't know...

I love the grass border, wouldn't have thought of it. You were looking for honest opinions right.... I don't want to be catty cuz I'm not. My ONLY suggestion is to practice your handwriting. It looks good, but not flawless and that is an easy thing to practice on a practice board, piece of saran wrap, back of a cake pan...

How did you do that puppy? It is amazing!

Thanks Alice... I know I need to practice that , plus I kind of hold my breath and that makes me shake. Practice breathing too. lol

If you search for a thread by sue_dye called mini puppy, it posted about a week ago I think. She gives you pics on how to cut the Little Debbies, alot easier than I thought it would be. I think I'll make my own cake next time though as I didn't really care for the taste of the yellow LD but JMO.

Thanks for being honest and I didn't think that was caddy at all!!! icon_lol.gif

Any ideas about the fondant?

Nice job on the cake!

As for the jersey, I have had the same thing happen when I was working with MMF. I don't know if it is the "proper" procedure, but I put mine in the microwave for a few seconds to warm it and then put a thin coating of Crisco on my hands and knead it until it is smooth. It seems to work for me. Hope this helps. Keep up the good work & congrats on your first paid cake! icon_biggrin.gif

I like the design of the cake and the jersey looks great.

I have a tip for the handwriting...

1. Printing is easier to make look neat than cursive.
2. If you still want to do cursive remember this...when you make the letters do not go back over the lines you already piped.
For instance...to write "Birthday"
do this...
Do the straight lin for the big b...
Stop the icing, pick up and go back to the top to start. the loops
When you get to the bottom of the B stop the flow and pick up the tip
Start at the bottom of the i and go to the top, then stop.
about half way down the i start the tail end and go down and pull up to go to the top of the r.
Lift up and make the hump of the r and the right tail..go on into the tall part of the t
start at the halfway down point again and go down to make the tail of the t and then up to make the loop of the h.
Stop the flow then go to the halfway point of the H and make the hump.
Stop the flow and make the circle of the d
Stop the flow and make the tail part of the D
Stop the flow and make the circle part of the a
Stop the flow and make the tail of the a
Stop the flow and make the y in one motion.

All of the letters should connect to the letters in front of them to make the cursive look.

I saw this demonstration form the wilton school on tv somewhere. After I practiced on apper first with a pen, I figured it out. Now my writing is not perfect, but it is getting neat and is pretty consistent.

Hopefully I have not confused anyone....jsut wanted to share the tip i have found so helpful.

MelZ is right on about the MMF.

Here is something I try and remind myself of.... I AM MY OWN WORST CRITIC. It will NEVER be good enough for me, I see ALL the flaws. Others who see my cakes, don't notice the flaws even when i point them out. Soooo, I have forced a rule on myself. I am NOT ALLOWED to point out flaws (except when I post on CC since I am looking for feedback). If they say something, so be it, but they won't notice and will be super dazzled by your talents.
