So much talk about the preparation for the holiday...how did it go? Any funny/interesting stories? Of course we know all the desserts were fabulous! Going to be fun to see all the new pictures being posted the next few days.
Just thought it would be fun to keep the holiday spirit going before we get on to all the planning for Christmas. Or is everybody shopping?
I'm not shopping--I'm too exhausted after cooking fot three days straight for a twenty minute meal! Our Thanksgiving was nice, great to catch up with the extended family and all that cooking was worth it. Thanks for asking!
I flipped through the ads and didn't see anything worth getting out for today...crazy around here about this time. I'm doing some online Christmas shopping though ![]()
I had a rough morning yesterday. 1/2 of my rolls wouldn't rise, I overcooked the squash and I cracked my pampered chef stoneware roasting pan
Luckily I only paid $2 for it at a thrift store but I don't think I'll ever be so lucky again to find a deal like that. My husband heard me say "OH!" from the kitchen and came running to see if he could help. I said, no I just need to be alone for a minute. LOL...I had to mourn the loss of my pan. As soon as all the family got together though, I was so grateful and so happy to be surrounded by people I love. Despite my bad morning, I had a wonderful day.
Yesterday I hosted Thanksgiving so I cooked alot of the food, cleaned the house, finished a wedding cake, all while my 15-month old son and 3 year old nephew were running around. This may sound stressful, but I had the most stress-free holiday I've had in a few years: my mother-in-law was out of town
Sorry if that sounds terrible, but it really did make for a relaxing day. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!!
Haha, ge978, I can relate! No in-laws for me this year either. Just my parents. We all had a very happy and relaxed holiday.
We had our traditional dinner (fried turkey, honey-baked ham, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, green bean casserole, Southern-style cornbread dressing, broccoli-cheese casserole, candied yams with a ton of toasted marshmallows on top, cranberry sauce, rolls, and for dessert, the traditional trilogy of pies: pumpkin, pecan, and apple).
The only thing different this year was I brought a chocolate fountain! We dipped banana slices, apricots, strawberries, graham crackers, pirouette cookies, and Belgian creme puffs. It was fun but by the end of the night we were all miserably full. LOL
Our family gathering included four generations, and around eighty people. Tons of food....but the neatest thing about this yearly event is that it's the only time most of us see each other all year.....and every year, we pick up where we left of last year! Thankful... (MY side of the family!)
We had such a wonderful day! At first I was really down because we are used to hosting 20 people and there were only going to be about 10. At the last minute, my niece decided to come and so did my in-laws, my brother and his family, too. We ended up with 16 all together. Just as we sat down for dinner, I had a wonderful surprise (everyone else knew about it but me), my brother called. Not to get into any details, my brother has been in prison for 2.5 years and hasn't written or called until Thursday. He is going to be home next July. As soon as I heard his voice, I started crying which started everyone else crying. It was the highlight of my day!
Of course, after all the cooking and stress -- 30 minutes of eating and everyone was done!!!
no inlaws for me ...my aunts were on good behaviour.... we had a great holiday ...despite the fact that I forgot my stuffing in the oven on broil and it became charcoal!!
.... by the time we got to the dessert table the little accident had been forgotten
Cakepro...we had a chocolate fountain too!!
.. my friend bought it a few months ago and has been looking for an opportunity to use it ... we had an awsome dessert table: I made a pistachio cake with white chocolate frosting, I made turkey cupcakes for the kids, sugar free kiwii pie, pumpking pie, different kinds of fruit for dipping in the chocolate..... my kids LOVED the chocolate fountain ..they asked me to buy it for my husband for x-mas..... I wonder who the gift is really for ???
I'm still cleaning up, LOL! We had a really nice Thanksgiving. The giant turkey I posted about the other day was a success. I ended up roasting it in the oven (barely fit) and it took 8 1/2 hours
I'm really glad I put it in at 4 AM! ![]()
Well, I for one am glad it is over I had my first large order for that day (did not know they were picking it up that afternoon though) 3 full sheet cakes So I was baking nonstop I had my oven and my neighbors oven who was nice enough to let me borrow hers going non stop and icing everywhere from the tip of my head to the bottom of my feet LOL The hubby was outside frying the turkey for our gathering that afternoon at the inlaws house thank goodness it was not at my house boy would that have been even more hecktick!
I had a good Thanksgiving this year. My middle sister went to Disney World this week so that was the only fall back. Wish she could of been here. I made a turkey cake and nobody wanted to cut it so I don't know whether to be happy or dissapointed. My inlaws have the cake now and they don't want to cut it. I hope everyone had a great day. Now CHRISTMAS is only 30 days away
. Here we go again!! ![]()

I had a fantastic day and finished it off with some karaoke...hoarse from a cold so you can imagine what I sounded like ![]()
My Thanksgiving was nice and relaxed. As usual we ate a lot, specially desserts and wine.
My neighbors keep asking me what I cooked that day, because It smelled sooo delicious around my house, they said. The way they were saying it and their faces were funny! ![]()
Bye!
Sory.
